When Lan returns to Shienar, there is an earthquake as cracks in the Pattern are reflected in the land. Worried about how tired everyone is becoming from the fighting, he goes to find Agelmar. Agelmar is planning to retreat, and Lan argues against it, not wanting to abandon Malkier. Agelmar tells him that it is selfish to be so ready to die when his men need him. Agelmar further insists that they can do more damage by delaying and retreating, and Lan realizes that Agelmar is right. A signal comes that backup is needed, and Lan goes back to the battle (AMoL, Ch. 9).

Well, that's the price for barrels that will be delivered to market next month. We got really used to low fuel prices in America. That's a long oil bust, and it has really altered the U.S. producers' ability to ramp back up quickly. There's just not that much equipment there. Halliburton's CEO, they're one of the biggest companies that serves oil producers and helps them get the oil out of the ground, their CEO told investors they're already sold out of the equipment and the services they sell to U.S. producers in Texas to crack open wells and get them flowing.
Lan's armies continue holding the Trollocs at the Gap but they know that the Shadowspawn will overrun them eventually. Lan witnesses Bulen's death, but refuses to mourn. Instead, he talks with his men about the heroic deeds of their fallen comrades, and they begin to laugh and praised the honored dead. With Narishma's help Lan leaves Bulen's body on the top of a mountain where he will be preserved until he can be buried properly. Suddenly the the ground starts shaking and rumbling, and tiny rents appear in the rock, cracks that are way too dark to be normal. The nothingness behind the cracks soon disappears, but Lan is worried about what he saw. He heads to the Saldean camp. There he talks with Lord Agelmar about how tired the men are. Lan refuses to retreat and leave Malkier to the Shadow a second time. Agelmar calls him selfish and tells him it's irresponsible to throw his life away with the Last Battle upon them and that their task is to hurt the Shadow even if it means falling back. An emergency signal draws Lan's attention and he storms out to help the defensive lines.

Calrissian was confronted by Brushaun, who believed that he cheated him out of 2,000 credits in a card game on Canto Bight. Calrissian was saved by Kristiss, who offered him the credits to pay off Brushaun and more if Calrissian helped her people. Calrissian spoke with L3 about this mission and knowing he would be a dead man, Calrissian accepted Kristiss' mission. Enroute to Kulgroon, the Falcon came under attack by several TIE fighters. Calrissian and L3 were able to lead the TIEs to a moon, where he was able to pick them off before they arrived at Kullgroon.[23]
Cha manged to shoot the door panel shut and initiate the self-destruct countdown. She then instructed Calrissian to retrieve Lobot from the medical bay while she docked her ship. Calrissian managed to helped Lobot out of the bacta tank. Before they could head to the airlock, they were cornered by a lightsaber-wielding Aleksin. Using his smooth talk, Calrissian managed to trick Aleksin into deactivating his lightsaber before shooting him dead. They then joined Cha at the airlock. Despite killing Pavol, the three encountered a new predicament. The Scimitar's droid steward O-66 had abandoned Cha after learning that she had activated the Imperialis's self-destruct mechanism.[37]
Following the events at Endor, Governor Ubrik Adelhard imposed the Iron Blockade on the Anoat sector. Adelhard also claimed that the Empire had won the Battle of Endor and that rumors of the Emperor's death were rebel propaganda. In response, a resistance movement known as the Uprising emerged in the sector. Calrissian kept in touch with his old friend Lobot, who relayed messages through the blockade and served as a liaison between Calrissian and members of the Uprising. Unable to intervene directly in the uprising on Cloud City, Calrissian instead transferred credits to the rebels through the auspices of Lobot. He was privy to a joint operation by Lobot and the pirate Kars Tal-Korla to breach Adelhard's personal quarters and capture him.[10] Though Adelhard evaded capture, the Uprising managed to liberate Bespin as the Galactic Civil War drew to a close.[12]
